Hi, sorry for saying that, but it crashed again.

Again when my friend was jumping to a time in the middle of the video. The server crashed. The time before, the server worked.

Hi i tried it now with the web service. I was travelling and accessed the server via plex web. (Mobile Data connection.)

Is the server static IP or DHCP?
Is the DHCP server sending lease renewal too frequently ?

Hi,

the plexmediaserver has the ip 192.168.0.250. Its configured via DHCP.
DHCP Server is the router (192.168.0.1) Its a Fritzbox and it will give the server everytime the same ip. The leasetime is set to 10 Days.
The Synology Diskstation has the 192.168.0.21. This is a static ip.

Hi, I set it now to a static ip. The Plexmediaserver does now not recieve the ip via dhcp.

What about the issues with the decoding/encoding via hardware?

The server crashed again. This time by accessing it remote with the Plex Windows app, and the plex web.

Your last output from the installer’s inventory showed the needed packages for that processor were missing.

Hi, yes I installed the software like you told me.

Yesterday the server crashed, when i acessed it with my chromecast from my home, in the same network.

I thought that the server just crashes when it is accessed from outside the same network and then it has to recode the movie files.

I had a lot of research and testing to do.

For your machine, being an 11th Generation Intel, you must install the Intel Compute Runtime drivers.

I am currently working on updating my packaging to properly detect and report these new 1185G7 machines (Intel changed their numbering – AGAIN – for the processors)

If you have the following packages installed, update to current.
If not, install them per the instructions given.
Restart Ubuntu when done

Also install debian package ocl-icd-opencl1

Hi, it was working for my home network.
When my friend accessed it and jumped to a location in the middle of the video, the server crashed.
When my friend was just watching, it seemed to work.

Totally bizarre failure.

  1. Was transcoding fine.
  2. 2nd session comes in
  3. SSL setup fails
  4. Session fails
  5. Transcoder got caught in a VERY bizarre state & crashed
  6. And it also took down the server – Should NOT be possible unless the Cgroup was killed by the kernel.

I dont know what i can do against it. Seems good that you know what the logs are saying. But what can we do against it.

I dont know what a Cgroup is. I am not so deep in linux.

Can we try anything that you will get a better look for what is going on.
do you need any logfiles or commands to run on my system?

No there’s nothing which can be done at this point but there are things to keep iterating toward

The root problems are:

  • The Intel 11th Gen CPUs don’t have 100% stable Linux kernel support (the i915).

  • The Intel Compute Runtime package is still being developed and IS REQUIRED for all 11th Gen CPUs.

My best recommendations are:

  1. Make absolutely certain you’ve got the most recent updates from Ubuntu – Emphasis on the Linux kernel and firmware packages.

  2. Keep your “Intel Compute Runtime” packages (the “neo” drivers) updated – monitor github manually and update manually as you see releases. Eventually these will get rolled into Ubuntu’s mainstream
