PlexMonitor...(I need a better name)

Now plexSentry -:

Can you provide some screen shots?  Interested what you have set up.

Bump, I'd too like to see what you have cooking with this!

PlexAssassin

PlexLuthor

I'd be interested to see how it looks like and even test it.

I'd be interested as well.

I think plexmonitor is the perfect name. Explains what it does. Be interested to see this. I’ve requested this as a plex feature myself a while ago.

PlexGuard.

Hey guys, the program has been up and running well for days, and I'll release something before Sunday once the interface doesn't look like something only a programmer would love. However, I've been coming up against some 2 limitations with Plex that defeats the purpose of this in some instances.

1. [TranscodeSession node from /status/sessions, doesn't change from the first created transcoding id]
Start with Highest bitrate (Direct Play)-> no transcoding node
switch to bitrate below media bitrate -> transcoding node key = 12345 (This would kick the user)
switch to another bitrate below media bitrate -> transcoding node key = 12345 (logs say 67899)
switch to highest bitrate -> transcoding node key = 12345 (logs say drops all transcoding activity)

Now let's say user started was using Direct Stream
Start with Highest bitrate (direct stream), but audio is transcoded -> transcoding node has video @ "copy" and audio @ "transcoded", this I can live with
switch to bitrate below media bitrate -> transcoding node key stays the same as start
switch to another bitrate below media bitrate -> transcoding node key stays the same as start
switch to highest bitrate -> transcoding node key stays the same as start

2.[The Plex IOS App is totally fucked]

From what I can tell from testing on a iPhone 5s and a iPad Mini Retina is that the settings are a suggestion at best. It forces 1080 down to 720, and doesn't respect the bit rates of the source video above certain limits, which in turn forces transcoding. So far the only solution I've been able to implement is to add "-threads 1" to the iPhone 5,1 profile which they both use.

Huh,2 weeks later and I just got plexLuther. Are there any people out there using plex on different devices outside what I’ve tested that want to share my library (2200 movies, +10k TV episodes) for a little bit as guinea pigs?

I can test from a Roku and Windows phone if it helps.

Sure. I currently have Plex on 4 types of devices I can test on:

1) 2013 Moto X

2) 2012 Nexus 7, Wifi

3) PMS for Mac

4) Chromecast

I'm still a newbie at sharing, but I'm fairly tech savvy enough to give clear answers to pointed questions.

-If user stream count is above user stream max sends a email to user and admin

Is there a way to also kill any streams above user stream max in addition to the email being sent?  Ideally I want to kill off or prevent new streams from starting sort of how Netflix does.

Say I only allow a user 1 stream to their account, I would love to be able to have any streams started after that first stream to be killed off / prevented.

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

If I understand well, we need a Windows machine to run it. Right?

I wish I could kill extra streams, but as of right now there’s not enough information from the plex endpoint api (ip addresses, but i have the db setup for when that rolls out) and the http playback commands aren’t universal. From personal experience, the automated email has scared people into compliance.
