As daunting as it initially looked it took around 15 minutes to be up and running. :)

been tinkering this morning.....

on PlexWatch page i'm getting "Failed to access plexWatch database. Please check your settings"

also trying to use Pushbullet as notifcations. so the final part of the config.pl about pushbullet

device' => 'DEVICE IDEN', # https://api.pushbullet.com/api/devicesput yor API key as username and password empty

I load the webpage, it pops up a username/password box. I enter my API as instructed and got back a devices.json file which I've saved.

what do I do???

also, I'm only getting statistics on the homepage. no recent activity or recently added like the in the image in the instructions etc etc.

Awesome guide! Thanks for the instructions!

It worked instantly after I followed those few steps.

One little addition that might come in handy:

If you want xampp to start with Windows just install Apache and MySQL as services. Start the panel as Administrator, make sure that Apache and MySQL are not running, tick the checkbox in front of  Apache and MySQL. Hit start button from Actions panel. Now you can close the Control Panel and both services are running in the background and even after Windows restarted.

Open with notepad and DEVICE IDEN is in there, make sure you get the right one if you have multiple device under the account..

Cheers for that. Still can’t get plex watch to work though.

Thanks OP! I was in same boat as you, never dedicating enough time to truly get it all setup and understand how it worked. Works great now!

Thanks a ton sfnetwork. I have this up and running now, but for some reason the webserver is not working properly. Everytime i head over to plexwatchweb it never loads and says the page is unavailable. I restarted the xampp services, but still nothing. Am I missing something?

**EDIT**

Nevermind, I am stupid. Had one of those moments and I totally forgot I moved this over to https... Duh...

anyway. really loved the post made a lot of file editing much easier.

Thanks again.

I’m same situation.

Doesnt the EXE create the DB on first start? I would try the basics first.

1) check the read/write status of the file

2) delete it and let it recreate the DB

3) redownload the exe (corrupted maybe?) and let it recreat the DB

Try re-downloading plexwatch.exe and let it then recreate the DB.

Does anyone know how to disable notifications per user? Example: I don't want notifications on when I start a show or my wife, but I would like them for all my other users. Is this possible?

I just poked around to see for myself (hadn't thought about it before), but I'm going to say it probably isn't possible.

I thought I saw somewhere you could edit config.pl via Notepad++, Add few words in before the user name, but I just cannot find where I located it at.

That is the standard task scheduler in windows.

The script is working, but I have another problem. The plexwatch, don't show the IP of the user. The IP colum shows a "n/a". Why plexwatch don't catch the IP of the users?

I have the same issue, I have tried having logging on and double checking it is pointing to the correct directory to find them, just no luck here.

I want to send newsletters with the new content of my library to my users. I can do this with PlexWatch no? My OS is Windows 7.

I personally use this...

Yup it is possible to exclude one or more users from notifications whilst still including them in the overall stats, details here (it involves editing plexwatchnotify.vbs and NOT config.pl).

You need to enable debug logging on the server. On the server settings page --> General -->Show Advanced.  (I have verbose logging enabled too, but I don't think you need that to capture the IP addresses)    It is mentioned in the config.pl file as a remark on the 4th or 5th line :)

Naturally, IP logging will start from that point, previous entries will still be n/a
