PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21, 22+)

I don’t have logs enabled. I don’t run anything android.

I tried to repeat, with the latest beta and caching reenabled, and it didn’t crash - just returned back to UI with no Kodi playback failed alert this time. Pressing play a second time worked, as presumably the cache was flushed.

The comment and issue you’re referring to is from 2023. Please recheck in PM4K, there’ve been new additions and fixes in terms of audio codecs in 0.8.0-beta and direct streaming. Play around with “Transcode audio to AC3” and “Transcode target codec”.

Disregard my last reply, I see you were talking to the other guy.

Like-participation has significantly gone down

@ecsjjgg you’re my only supporter left :frowning:

Let’s see if the like counter increases again once we achieve 0.8.0 stable

Edit: That was a bad joke, sorry :D. I just noticed previously having 7+ likes on a beta release, and now, approaching the really interesting betas of 0.8.0, everyone stopped

0.8.0-beta12.4:

Resuming an in progress episode is just restarting the episode from the beginning.

I see it briefly try to resume at 05:06 but then it just goes back to 00:00 and plays from the start.

Use alternate seek: off
Always resume media: off
Home Resume in-progress items: off

Issue is not present with 0.8.0-beta12.3

Yikes, yeah, I feared that. Which device?

Ugoos AM6B+ running CoreELEC 21.2 CPM version.

Can you try toggling the seek fix? Is it on currently?

Use alternate seek: off (currently)

turns it back on and updates back to beta-12.4

resuming works!

You’re doing great work. It’s a great client (mod?) and you’re so responsive to the community. Sincerely, thanks. This project feels like a labor of love. Very glad to see it’s so long-lived.

Thank you for the praise. It definitely is a labor of love. A lot of it is necessity, though. I don’t want to hate on the official clients, but I think Kodi’s media playback is unparallelled.

It’s also a labor of hate, honestly. This client is insanely complex, just because the addon handling of Kodi is. Features take ages and I’m basically alone in this endeavour.

It’s just called “mod”, as there’s been an official open source version of PM4K, which was called Plex4Kodi and abandoned half a decade ago by Plex Inc. It hasn’t been officially scrapped, but it has been effectively since Kodi 18. When I began working on this I basically always merge requested based on the original version, until I encountered areas where I’d differ from the official Plex stance/design/UX, which lead me to fork this project.

Essentially: This is the only Plex client for Kodi by now, and probably, playback/compatibility-wide, the definitive one. The only issue we have is: I’m only one guy.

So massive changes take forever, especially UX/UI ones, as the templating is so cumbersome in Kodi. Also this area is super niche, so the open source aspect of this project doesn’t necessarily help.

Well, just know it’s appreciated. Whether or not we remember to hit the like button. The engagement in this thread alone is a testament to that.

Also, were you always a Plex Ninja? I just noticed that.

Yeah, for ages basically. I was the author of Sub-Zero subtitles (the PMS addon, when those were a thing), and by proxy the core of Bazarr.

Seeing as this is the only Plex client worth using for any serious home theatre enthusiast (on Ugoos AM6B+), it does suck that you have to keep this up alone. IMO Plex should be hiring/paying you and making this an official client because it is by far the best one they have. As someone who has been ripping 4K blu-rays for the last few years this is the only way I get full quality from my Plex server. All other clients including Infuse are a compromise at some level. And the “new experience” app design is still not as good as this IMO.

So you may not be getting as many likes lately as this thing just works and is stable lol maybe that’s why Plex inc break the official apps every so often to get engagement? :joy:

But know we all definitely appreciate your work man! Only features left that I wanna see added is the ability to have collections pinned to home, and when clicking a movie show the collection it’s in. Other than that PM4K just rocks and I’m here for the long haul! :clinking_beer_mugs:
