PMS 1.15.1.707 - Hardware Transcoder Bug (resolved)

Server Version#: 1.15.1.707
Player Version#: NA

Running latest PMS Plex Pass on Windows Server 2019. I got hardware decode and encode working with a Nvidia P2000 but found a bug. Plex only does hardware decoding if I use a mapped drive. It doesn’t work with UNC paths. So M:\Movies works but \10.0.0.15\Movies makes it fail back to the software decode. I have more details and screenshots in the end of this thread. Quadro P2000 - PCI-E Passthrough in vmware,

Whelp. Now hardware decode stopped working again. No idea what changed. Still digging into it. If any Plex people look at this can you tell me where to look for troubleshooting? Not seeing anything in the logs in regards to hardware decode.

It seems that I had it working for one evening with four transcodes going at one all with hw decode and hw encode. It was marvelous. After I rebooted the server I could never get hardware decode to work again until I plugged in a dummy dongle. Now it seems to be working again. I will be testing library’s using UNC path later tonight.

Please try upgrading to the 1.15.1.710 build released today. Includes a windows Hw transcoding Fox.

For my specific use case 1.15.1.707 and 710 both work the same way. If I have a dummy dongle plugged in then I get the hardware decode. Otherwise I don’t. That’s completely acceptable. So happy to see Plex working out the bugs with hardware transcoding! It’s so nice.
