Having the same problem on the server side with Ubuntu Server 18.04.
Plex didn’t freeze/restart unless i did some update. Now, it happens twice a day.
Very frustrating and only sudo service plexmediaserver restart helps …
Please fix this
For me, PMS seems to “locking up” once a day. I can’t figure out when it happens, but just shutting down PMS and restarting it does not clear the problem. It requires a reboot of my server. Running Windows 10 and PMS 1.18.5.2309.
Having same issue, windows server 2019.
Same issue here. PMS 1.18.5.2309 running on MacOS Catalina 10.15.3.
Accessing with PMP 1.6.2 from another Mac seems fine as well as from the Apple TV 4K.
However when playing on iOS 13.3.1, Plex version 6.7.2 the server hangs up trying to switch from one video to another.
Weird, stable up until now.
Thanks for the sharing the details … what I did was that first i sign out from the app and closed the app… then I opened the app and logged with a dummy account means created a new plex normal account not a plex pass account … then again I signed out then I closed the app… then again opened it and logged with the actual login account means the account which is needed to be signed in … the crashes stopped version iOS app is 6.7.2, PMS version 1.18.2309… … issue is that pms server freezes while using in IOS …

Lots of posts here in this thread - (I will look the set of logs we have in the thread)
We have resolved an issue already in 1.18.6.2368 - see release note which mentions the fix for the lockup that has been seen in logs from users
Plex Media Server 1.18.6.2368 is now available in the Beta update channel.
FIXES:
(Ubuntu/Debian) The service may not have automatically started after upgrading an existing install.
The server could become unresponsive after navigating many preplay screens.
Anyone still with issues after the update to 1.18.6.2368, please see

m having the exact same issue. I don’t know what they did, but this update seems to be unstable.
To give a-little added nuance - for me the issue appears when I’m “admining” marking things as played, or unplayed. I do this a lot because I’m always checking the quality of my video files. I notice it’s going o crash if the client (most likely an iOS client in my case) is taking too long to load all the “details” of a said movie or show. It may still play the file, but then quickly if I stop the play back and maybe try to play something else the UI slows down to a crawl, and nothing will play. On the server (running on a 8th Gen Intel NUC/Windows 10 Pro) sometimes plex will load in the browse, however still be pretty unresponsive. Most of the time nothing loads. Closing Plex, and relaunching it resolves the problem. Like @bbbig wrote in his post it’s getting worse, with x.x.x.2309 being the most unstable.
Troubleshooting steps:
Restarting Plex on the server
Rebooting the server
Rebooting the router
Rebuilding the database
I’m going to attempt to follow some steps on found online to roll back.
I added a few pictures, this is right after I restarted Plex on the server.
I played Big (which is a direct play on my iPhone. Moved to the middle of the movie. Then marked as played, and unplayed. Do this completely crashed the server.
I have seen two sets of issues from your logs from 3rd and 2nd February.
One is the lockout / deadlock issue resolved in Plex Media Server 1.16.8.2368 -
The other are crashes when hardware transcoding and falls into bullet 1 or 3 here
There is a later consolidated summary in another thread which i will paste here.
Consolidating all info relating to crashes and hardware acceleration
Following the test of new Intel driver by @Geran and previous feedback from @d0cx , we now have a conclusion to these crashes.

Player Version#: All
The server process would simply crash and die when playing/attempting to play video/movies. It started happening recently, but it’s far more frequent with 1.18.5.2309 and it’s basically unusable. It seems to be crashing more often when a remote user tries to play content from the server (my speculation). Please see attached logs and the crash report dumps
Your crashes should be covered by this post

Plex server still constantly crashing, even after reinstall.
Server Version 1.18.6.2368; Player Version 4.20.2, Win 7 OS
I’m having a similar issue with PMS 1.18.7.2434. PMS randomly stops working, and does not work after rebooting the computer. I have to quit and restart PMS in order to get things to work with any player (AppleTV, Player, etc). I’m running Windows 10.

I can see crash reports uploaded from your server and the crash appears to be the one relating to use of some Smart TV apps. The crash has been fixed in the latest beta. See release note for 1.18.7.2434
Plex Media Server 1.18.7.2434 is now available in the Beta update channel.
FIXES:
Certain clients could make a request that would crash the server (#11154)

The fix will be available to you once 1.18.7 comes off beta and is released to everyone

would need server logs captured after one of these crashes. Please ensure debug logging is not disabled

Thanks - looks like some form of deadlock which started at about 13:20
For deadlocks would need process dump as well as connections list in addition to server logs
See this post which outlines what diagnostics are needed for deadlocks
A number of bugs giving rise to deadlocks have been fixed already with two separate fixes going into 1.13.4.5251 - I am aware that there is still a deadlock bug in 1.13.4 and we are waiting for the diagnostics so it can be investigated and fixed.
Deadlocks can only be investigated from process dumps together with logs with debug logging enabled and also a list of connections at the time.
The snippet of log you found would be for actions that are not impacted by a deadlock
Please could you fo…
