PMS Crashes at 6am every morning

Server Version#: 1.32.4.7195
OS: Ubuntu Linux, 22.04.2 LTS

It seems that the server has been crashing at around 6:30am every morning now for around 20-30min, then comes back up. The notifications come from Tautulli sending to Pushbullet. I have the notification delay set to 60 seconds.

Looking at the logs, this appears to be what happens when it crashes. Is this a normal process now for scheduled tasks? I’m not telling PMS to do anything at this point in the day. I can send other logs or provide more info if needed.

I can’t diagnose from screenshot snippets

However, I can tell you that “signal 15” is a commanded shutdown
(e.g. systemctl stop plexmediaserver)

Interesting, I haven’t told it to shut down, and to my knowledge I don’t have any cron jobs telling it to do so. Do you have any suggestions I can try for finding out what’s causing this?
Also I can provide any/all logs that would help, I just don’t know which ones are of use to you.

After some log digging on the system, it’s telling me that OOM-Kill is turning the program off. Is this a bug, or should I have something in place to prevent plex from doing this?

How much memory is installed on the system?
Is PMS running in a container/docker where there is a memory quota/limit?

There’s 24gb of RAM, it’s not in a container/docker.

Just happened again this morning. It hasn’t happened for a few days while I was out of town, I’m still confused as to what is happening

just turn off the scan to skip credits … then it will run smooth … had same problem, drove me insane … easy fix, hard to guess

I figured out what the issue was, I had some broken media files that were reading as being hundreds of hours long, and it was bogging down the scanner. Thanks to everyone who helped me!

hey bud, how did you figure out the media file issue? im going through the same thing right now.

If you sort by “duration” in Plex, it’ll tell you which ones (I had a few that didn’t even register a number and/or were only “a few seconds”, which were out on the highest/lowest ends). If that doesn’t help, I’m not sure what to do, you may just have to test your more recent files and see which ones are corrupted/broken. Hope this helps!
