Hi,
I have set my library to only scan when I initiate it manually. This has always worked fine until recently. The last couple of days when scanning my Stage Performance library the PMS crashes during the scan (It also crashes when refreshing metadata).
All the other libraries I have (Movies, TV Shows, etc.) scans without any issue and it is only the Stage Performance library that crashes the PMS. This library points to three different folders, but have not previously had any issues.
I’ve tried to remove the files I added lately to see if any of those files causes the issue, but after removing those the PMS still crashes when scanning that library or refreshing the metadata.
I have placed logs and the dmp+log file here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1YdDvChqeo3z4OYkHcns6P_XV_aL3Urvm?usp=drive_link
Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
Synology DSM#: 7.1.1-42962
Any help with figuring out exactly what are causing this crash would be appreciated.
Regards,
Michael
An update on this.
I readded the files I had removed to check if they were the cause and during the scan they all got added and then PMS crashed again as it starts doing the gathering of metadata. So I’m beginning to suspect that it is the metadata gathering that is causing the issue.
I have also noticed the PMS sometimes crashes even when I haven’t scanned or refreshed metadata on this library, so now I’ve tried to disable anything on that library that might gather metadata to see if that stops the background crashes, at least until I figure out what exactly is causing the crashes..
Newest updates have not fixed the issue. The Stage Performances library still crashes during Scan Library or Refresh Metadata.
Final update on this as I found out what the issue was.
After having tried removing one or more folders from the library, as mentioned removing the newest entries in the library and doing several updates to Plex, I finally decided to delete the library and rebuild it.
That all worked well and it was during that process of rebuilding the library I discovered the culprit. For some reason one of the background images I used for one of my collections always got corrupted when uploading it to Plex. It worked well in Windows but after I had it uploaded to Plex and then downloaded it from the Plex Metadata Collections folder it no longer worked as an image.
After replacing that image I have now had Plex run without crashing when scanning or refreshing metadata on that library. I’ve also had Plex run for over a solid day without any crashes which have also not happened since the issue started.
