PMS Daily Crashes on Synology NAS

Hello,

my Plex server keeps crashing on a daily basis, already twice today.

It’s running on a Synology DS218+, DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 3. This issue also occurred on previous versions of DSM and previous versions of the Plex Media Server.

I use the latest Infuse Player as a client on an AppleTV, MacBook Pro, and iPhone.
It crashes most often when watching videos on the MacBook, sometimes on the iPhone and rarely on the AppleTV.

I’ve tried going through the logs but the only thing that sticks out to me is this error, which comes up extremely often:

Unable to find client profile for device; platform=macOS, platformVersion=, device=Mac, model=

This is the one issue that keeps me from buying a Plex Lifetime Pass.

I switched to the Plex player (Version 1.65.1.3596-7b1f6d97) for the past week. No crashes for the first few days then three crashes in one day. I’m attaching the latest logs.

I see the crashes in your logs. They are from sub-tasks in PMS (looks like audio).

There have been updates to PMS to fix a lot of this.

Would you mind updating to current Public release and retesting?

@ChuckPa Updated to PMS Version 1.31.1.6782 last night but it just crashed again.

I’m still experiencing crashes although it feels less frequent now. I’ve since updated to Plex Pass and am enjoying it, but these crashes continue to be a real bummer. Attached the logs.

I believe the issues were caused by a faulty RAM module in the NAS. I ran a memory test using the Synology Assistant and discovered multiple errors. I’ve since replaced the RAM module and the Plex server has now been running without issues for over a week.

On a side note, I’m disappointed with the way the support is handled here. This has been the second time where I was just straight up ghosted by a member of the team. It would have been great to get some kind of response, even if it’s just to say that there is nothing more you can do for me.
