DVB format subtitles are not yet supported by our player apps. Subtitles are recorded and subtitle display support is planned.

To my understanding that only affects direct apps from HDHomerun, such as HDHomerun View. There should be nothing preventing Plex from adding it to Plex Live TV.
I can confirm I am not able to record the subtitles either, which makes this whole setup useless to me so I will be cancelling my plex pass unless it is fixed in the next few weeks

All you can do at the moment is use the hdhomerun recording engine. Although their apps cannot playback the uk dvb subtitle format. Because plex even has trouble playing back some recordings (direct or transcoded) on the shield tv I currently have to use kodi for playback. I do wish plex would integrate the mpv engine into the android tv app.
Any idea if they are in the stream Plex is saving to disk and just in the wrong format? Mangle somehow? Perhaps post-processing could recover them? Or are they completely AWOL?

A little update here. The issue has been fixed! Thanks for hanging in there with us. It’s headed into QA and will come out as a fast-follow update right after PMS 1.9.7.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Got to say, it’s a great of fresh air compared to the historical “mushroom” method of customer communication that Plex practised up till now!
And in case any of your colleagues question it - yes, of course we understand that nothing is final until a release is actually issued. Things sometimes have to change at the last minute. But it’s great to understand what the intention is that leads up to it.
