PMS does not capture any UK subtitles on any programme, yet the HDHOMERUN software does

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Got to say, it’s a great of fresh air compared to the historical “mushroom” method of customer communication that Plex practised up till now!

Hey, I love mushrooms! I can say that the methods of communication weren’t intentional. Hopefully what you’re seeing now, and maybe have seen for a bit, is an intentional focus to improve in that area.

@kinoCharlino so should this bug be fixed now?
is this fix for this? “Some DVB subtitles weren’t recorded (#7700)”

At least I have still problems with DVB subtitles with Finnish channels…

Edit: I just checked another recording and it seems to have DVB subtitles. So this seems to be working sometimes 1/2 for me right now. Audio seems to be Finnish in the one where subtitles were not recorded and English in the one where subtitles were recorded. Not sure if that has anything to do with this but could be. Both of these were spoken in english.

Edit2: Continued checking recordings and there seems to be dvb subs in many of the recordings. Cannot be sure was this one timer Plexs fault or was the subs even provided. Will need to conduct more tests to verify this one.

Once you know there is a channel that has subtitles appear ok when using other program to stream but not picked up by Plex Media Server, then best is to get diagnostics. This would be in 2 stages

  1. Getting server logs of the problem. So ensuring debug logging is enabled on the server. See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201643703-Reporting-issues-with-Plex-Media-Server and restarting the server to make sure fresh log files created. Then record the channel that would have subs missing (but would appear ok in DVR program). note down the time and channel details and capture the logs. See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files and attach here together with the details (time / channel / screenshot)

  2. Once the logs are looked into, the actual grab url for the channel can be picked up and then you would use this in a curl command to capture the stream into a file. Upload this file to dropbox or similar service and share a link and then it can be investigated together with the earlier logs
