Like the title says, my PMS freezes after scanning a library, in particular movies. It locks up and is inaccessible for about 10 minutes, then comes back up. I can either kill PMS and restart it or let it do it’s freeze thing and come back up on it’s own. Happens every time it scans.
Also happens when I delete a library. I just deleted my Christmas Movies section, it said there was an error deleting the library, I waited for about 2 minutes and the server became unavailable, waited another 10-15 and the server came back up and the library had been deleted.
Close Plex server, wait a minute, restart, wait two minutes, do something to cause the freeze, wait for it to “unfreeze”, wait another minute, then close Plex and upload your plex server log here.
And if the server is on a shield that is not unusual.

When deleting a library, it does take it some time to go through and delete all the metadata files (which can be a lot). I do know the devs have an idea how to mitigate that for all Plex platforms as it does impact everyone, on every OS, with a large library.
When scanning a large or newly added library, it is normal for the database to become ‘lopsided’ internally. Were you to examine the logfiles, you will often see “SLOW QUERY:” followed by the time needed to retrieve ‘n’ items. You can manually correct that by running “Optimize Database” from the left control pane where you would add a Library/are performing major media tasks or, as most do, let the database be optimized by the butler (Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks)
