I have been running Plex for years without trouble, last week I noticed one of my shows that has been on there for years had disappeared, I was rewatching it which is why I noticed. When I looked into it, I found that loads of my shows were missing.
I have been trying to fix it since but the library scanner keeps freezing. I have tried deleting the library from Plex and adding back, deleting all image files, xml, nfo etc leaving just video files and folder structures. Each time the scanner seems to freeze and I have to reboot to fix. Movie library seems ok.
I am using Plex TV Series scanner and Plex Series agent. It seems to vary which show it gets stuck on so I don’t think this is a corrupt file causing it. Does anyone have any ideas? I am on the Beta releases that come with Plex Pass so potentially a new update has caused it.
I ran the VACUUM command anyway which took a very long time to complete, no issues reported. I reconnected my library, refreshed metadata and left it, it very slowly started adding shows back. Overnight it crashed again so I had to restart Plex and now it is processing more of the library. This is not a massive library so I expect the slow speed is because it is refreshing all metadata and scanning for title credits etc. Hopefully it ends up working and going forward is not so slow, I may split off some library scan actions to scheduled tasks to run overnight.
Thanks, I did not know about this. I closed Plex, ran the bat file and it completed within 20 minutes or so and the DB size has shrunk to ~200MB! It looks like the library scan may be faster now, thanks for the tip.
