LOVE me some Plex! But PMS is generating loudness data for the SAME tracks over and over every day… any idea what could cause this or what information would be helpful in diagnosing? And oddly, it appears to be occurring outside the window allowed for scheduled tasks.
Are you still having this issue? I am on version 1.32.1.6983 and seem to also be having this issue. I’ve restarted the entire server once and it stopped the analysis for a few hours. It’s been about a solid week with my CPU usage at 50-90% generating loudness data for music that according to the XML and PlexAmp, already has loudness data.
I am not experiencing this any longer… I looked into it a little further and found the issue. I don’t understand WHY it was an issue, but here it is… On my server the loudness data was being generated for several bands/artists with a period “.” at the end of the name, like “moe.” or “Hank Williams, Jr.” or “Harry Connick, Jr.” Weird diverse taste in music here.
I realized this after looking at the drive and folder structure. Almost-duplicate folders had been created for these bands at some point. For instance, there was an artist level folder for “moe.” and “moe” and “Hank Williams, Jr.” as well as “Hank Williams, Jr” (with and without the period “.” at the end). I didn’t intentionally create those duplicate directories, and I’m not sure when or how they got there.
I deleted the duplicate folders without the periods at the end, had Plex “Empty the Trash” under the manage library option. And since then I have had no further issues with this.
Seemed like a weird circumstance, so didn’t post my findings here. And was I maybe a little embarrassed I didn’t catch this sooner? Maybe : )
Regardless, hope this helps. If not, best of luck!
