PMS Stopped Automatic/Partial Library Scanning

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3583
OS is Mint Tricia (Ubuntu Bionic)

The problem started after 1.20.4.3517 or maybe 1.20.5.3551. Manual scans appear to work but only log added content on my data root, which I use for high-turnover content only (daily news) other media which is successfully added do not appear in scan log.

The system is essentially unchanged for several years, with the exception of adding an nvidia P620 for transcoding.

Unchecking/Rechecking the various options has had no effect.

I’ve just enabled verbose+debug logging to hopefully catch more details after next content is added.

Checking the forums was not enlightening. Older/Similar issues by other users seem unrelated.

Verbose logging generally won’t help anything as it logs absolutely every tiny thing and will cause to roll over much faster. Only enable debug

Swapped. Thanks

It appears “Did you turn it off and turn it back on again” was the right thing to do. I did:

  1. Unchecked all scanning options
  2. Checked "Scan my library periodically
  3. Save
  4. Checked “Scan my library automatically”
  5. Save
  6. Checked “Run partial scan when changes are detected”
  7. Save

Gremlin seems to have dissappeared into the mist. Five items have since added and scanned in as expected.

It appears I spoke too soon. The issue remains but is inconsistent. It might be that it works for a while after reboot or other event but I’ve not isolated. What I do know is that I added content this morning around 8am and many hours later it had not appeared until I executed a manual scan.

I have re-enabled debug logging but have not seen anything interesting yet.

I am also experiencing this issue, libraries are not updating with new files, no specific settings were change in the last couple months, and it seems related to the 1.20 updates.

Plex loaded one file of 5, and then though it found the metadata for it, does not recognize the fail for playback. The movie works in other media players just fine, as do the four other latest movies files.

Plex also will not let me delete a library, seems hung up on something and just ignores the confirmed delete option.

are the library files on the same computer, a network share or an external drive . Are you both on Linux? if so which flavor of linux.

I personally just don’t do auto scans since my media is on a network share that the server computer cannot detect changes on.

Not sure about @Moachaen, but this was a false alarm on my part. Mine turned out to be a corrupt link pulling my files over at only ~1Mbps, so my 1.6GB program that I expect to see show up shortly after the recording finished did not arrive as expected.

I am going to re-click my problem as resolved but will leave debug logging on going forward, just in case.

Yeah, no joy here, and another update today still hasn’t resolved the issue. Primary folders are not updating, not recognizing downloaded files or transferred files, unable to even delete the folders and rebuild. ■■■■ is borked.

Drives doing bad?

Back again.

Just as reported on 12/20, I am seeing inconsistent detection of programs. Over the past week or so there were multiple times I didn’t see programs at their expected times. Today I had a program added at 11:45 and it was still not detected at 18:15. After forcing a manual scan it was detected/added as expected.

I’ve had debug logging running since I last posted but I don’t see anything unusual around the time of download or anything in general on casual inspection.

PMS is now Version 1.21.1.3876

I currently have “Run a partial scan when changes are detected” and " Scan my library automatically" selected, and do not do periodic/daily scans.

Please advise.
