Same, this worked for me as of 4am.
Hi @ChuckPa
I tried renaming my codec file to old and a new one did populate but im still getting the codec error on some videos
[Req#a2b/Transcode] Codecs: Download failed: Failed to verify SHA1sum of codec!
Iāve done the Codec rename and revert back to the old build but now iām just having connection issues. on my server (windows) if I go the the plex server app in the tray and select āopen Plexā it opens Edge and just says āCanāt reach this pageā(127.0.0.1). Trying to access the server through app.plex.tv just says unable to connect securely. if something is wrong on Plex side of things why are there no updates on https://status.plex.tv/
it didnāt work for me. Unraid - Plex media server
Same i am also on unraid
My understanding of the situation is that the backend issue that was serving the bad codec stack has been resolved. There should not be a need to revert back to a previous version of PMS and if you are seeing a codec related issue during playback you should only need to remove the contents of your /codecs (mostly the hashed version e613bce-97f23d579c1001d8e9cc0d2e-*) directory in your appdata.
- Stop PMS
- Move/remove
/codecs/e613bce-97f23d579c1001d8e9cc0d2e_* - Start PMS
If you are still encountering issues please post here with your PMS logs.
Hi @Atomatth !
Did that its still happening. attached logs
@dillanp3 Iām able to reproduce on my UnRAID machine as well. Looks like the EAE codecs are failing now. ugh. Thanks for reporting. Iāve added this to our ongoing investigations.
Edit: this is not unique to UnRAID. It appears to be a similar failure as before and affecting any/all hosts but now itās specific to the EAE codec.
@Atomatth No problem! If you need to test a fix let me know and I can
Reverting back to 1.41.3.9314 this morning really helped with a lot of issues for me. Really goofed up the DVR. It showed it was recording, but failed to write the recorded files to disk at all or wrote corrupted files. And multiple issues trying to play files!
Hello,
PMS: Synology NAS 920+
Version: 1.41.4.9463-72009463
I had previously encountered an EAE Timeout error a few weeks ago and deleted the codec folder and that fixed the issue temporarily, but it keeps coming back. I then thought the problem was on Plexās end with transcoding, but I renamed the codec folder and I tried to uninstall and install a previous version of Plex and this did not work either. I am still getting transcoding or decoding stream errors. No media is playing from outside my network or internally if it requires transcoding. I realize it may be a filled the Notify table, but I am not sure and a bit uncertain how to correct that issue if thatās the case. Any support would be much appreciated! Thank you @ChuckPa Logs attached.

Iām trying to do a rollback on PMS in MacOS but canāt seem to find the Codecs folder. Can I get some guidance please. Sorry Iām a bit of a noob.
Thanks in advance!
Iām being told that the EAE codec issue should be resolved. Can you please restart PMS and confirm that the EAE codec are being downloaded and playback is working again? If not, PMS logs please.
Looks like the playback works but the audio on some files sounds like a robot on helium is trying to speak lol. Most work fine so maybe its just that audio encoder?
You might need to restart the client too. Try a couple different files. Thanks again for helping with troubleshooting.
PMS 1.41.4.9463 works on my DS918+. I stopped PMS, deleted the codec folder, then started PMS. Folders & files re-created OK & codecs downloaded.
Transcodes MPEG2, H.264, H.265 video to H.264 and AC3 & EAC3 audio to AAC.
I tried restarting and the only file that does it that I have tried is one series. I have attached the XML file from the Get Info if that helps.
Every other file i try works perfectly
New Compressed (zipped) Folder.zip (3.9 KB)
EasyAudioEncoder reappeared, but still a transcoding problem under Unraid with this message: Transcode runner appears to have died.
PMS: 1.41.4.9463 (I did not change the version)
Mine is working again for Windows clients after I renamed the codec directory to codec-old and restarted PMS.
Thanks for tracking this one down quickly!
Any way to fix this on MacOS?
I donāt believe there is a corresponding codec folder like people are mentioning.
