Podcast (audio and video) full integration, please

+1 for Podcasts. Agree that variable playback speed is needed, that can be set and remembered per podcast series.

For voting remember to Hit Like instead of writing +1.

Also, is there a development roadmap to see if Podcast is coming anytime soon?

It amazes me that Plex hasn’t even acknowledged this request after it’s been requested for more than 3 years
Especially since you wouldn’t think it would be hugely complicated.

Aside from the Podcast thing it amazes me that there is no way to let Plex just access a library by browsing raw files
As things are set up now you HAVE to have a meta data analysis to import any kind of a file. I have a small library of short videos of different subjects that I have gathered from various different sources
each video is in it’s own “subject” folder but that gets completely ignored
I’d love to have the option to add a “raw” library where when you enter it you are presented with the folders on the filesystem and you can descend into them
even if Plex had this option it would be a way to at least use podcasts in Plex.

As long as it can remember your place. Some podcasts are very long, like Hardcore History. If there was a way to adjust the playback speed too, that would be a game changer. I treat them like Audio Books
Which would be great to have too.

yes please. I really need this and have for quite awhile.

I currently use iTunes running on a windows vm to automatically download podcasts and Plex usually can pull some of the metadata out of the resulting mp4 file. Its somwhat of a hackjob but it gets the job done for now. I was attempting to use Gpodder, the .nfo extension, and finally the XBMCnfotvagent but sadly the .nfo files generated from gpodder all are hardcoded as S00E00 so plex only will end up seeing one file. Since Gpodder does not actually pull ‘episode numbers’ from the podcast, I can’t even modify the .py script to generate something plex needs (well my python experience is limited to begin with).

What we really need is a new type ".nfo’/agent standard for stuff like Podcasts and Music Video and then a plex agent that can read this file.

Actually, after looking through the extension again, it may be possible. If someone with more experience can modify it so it can pull the episode number from the title and use the publish year as the season number, then the xbmc agent would fill the rest of the gap. The .nfo generator extension for gpodder is located “https://hiltronix.com/freeware/?app=gPodderNfo”

This ought to be a fairly easy thing to do whilst supplying a very strong feature. I find the idea that my phone should download podcasts utterly ridiculous when I have a perfectly good server at home which can handle all that, and my phone can just sync the ones I want.

I would love this feature

3 1/2 years, still would love to see this feature go live one day.

I would like to see this.

I would love this feature. Most of my time is spent on video RSS feeds from Giant Bomb and this would be great.

+1 I would love this feature but after three years I’m starting to assume it won’t happen and it would be useful to know if its been considered and not a desired/worthwhile direction.

This should be easy enough to do as there are several structured feed formats used for podcasts. Obviously I would start with supporting those. Just remember to support basic authentication as several podcasts have a paywall and use this in conjunction with HTTPS to handle user authentication.

The procedure should be download all episodes of a subscribed podcast. Alternatively download all episodes older than xx days.

I listen to video and audio podcasts I usually auto-download via RSS. Integrating a category or 2 for the podcasts would be great. +1!

Came across this while searching for this very feature (which I could have -sworn- I read it was implemented, “fake news” ?). 1+ from me as well (and yes I liked the OP) and if it is implemented, my apologies, but this is the only thing that came up.
