Can someone tell me how I can find out the token ID of a home user. When I follow the steps in this article ([How To] Request a X-Plex-Token token for your app), I don’t get a ‘View the XML’ option to be seen in case of a home user.

It is a pity that the podcast functionality in Plex has been discontinued. But (mainly) also that communication about this was insufficient and the transition period too short.

Hmmm
I was hoping that plexamp, largely a music-playing app from Plex that interfaces with Plex, would continue to support podcasts and perhaps implement some real features that podcasts should have. But alas, they now no longer offer podcasts as a source.

It’s a real shame as audio/visual input for me is largely Plex movies/TV shows and music. Other than that I listen to a lot of podcasts and would have loved it if Plex would have completed that circle for me.

Podcasts are big. I’m not sure what Plex is thinking by abandoning them.

Not sure what getting your X-Plex_Token has to do with podcasts.

I agree that the transition period was too short but they did say they were going to do this. Luckily, or unluckily, for me, I didn’t rely on Plex’s podcasts because 1) they never got the controls working right and 2) they did not link up with my current podcast client, Podcast Addict. If their player was any good I would have switched but their player always sucks WRT podcasts so I rarely used it.

To download the podcast list from the PMS database, a token is required; see Podcasts and Web Shows are going away on April 15, 2022

To find out that token, refer to this article => Finding an authentication token / X-Plex-Token | Plex Support

However, this does not work for home users. The step “Browse to a library item and view the XML for it” is impossible because you are not offered the option to view XML with a home user.

Thanks Volts! Although I can find out the token of a home user via your method, I am unable to download a list of podcast subscriptions in OPML format. I can’t access (see picture) the Plex database. It seems that different users also have the same token. Any other suggestions?

Very disappointing. Podcast on Plex was a great function, working on different platforms and recording the already listened podcasts.
