What is the story with the Podcasts feature? Ussers complain about them weekly and there is never any response from support staff.
Podcasts don’t update with any identifiable frequency, rarely more than once per day.
Something like NPR News Now updates EVERY HOUR and I’m lucky if it shows me one or two of those updates throughout the day ever. It shows weird random counts of them too, sometimes the last 2, sometimes 5 of them, sometimes only the latest one and the first one of the day, sometimes none.
Sometime my entire list of podcasts goes for days on end without updating.
You can’t create a playlist because if you play one episode it queues up all 500 goddamn episodes in the podcast.
This feature is just wholly terrible and barely useable. How many more months of people complaining about it until something is done, or at the very least… ACKNOWLEDGED?!
They don’t care. Their priority is Tidal. Podcast issues remain unresolved for over 3 years according to my quick google search. As soon as Sonos adds ANY other podcast app like Apple podcast I’m done with this half baked Plex project.
Yes, I really wish Podcasts would get some much needed TLC. I have once again disabled Podcasts in Plex and have gone back to Pocket Casts for now.
EDIT: Discovered podcasts work in Plexamp. Have a couple of podcasts set back up in Plex and am trying to work through some of the nuance to get it to work for me. There still need to be some changes to make the experience better.
I would love nothing more than to be able to use podcasts in Plex. @Noah0504 As we have both indicated in multiple posts, podcasts seem to be lowest in priority to Plex. Even when they work, there are multiple annoyances that just make using Plex podcasts a real PITA. (For example: The countdown timer for all podcasts played through Plex in Sonos is always off by up to a minute or more…the timer reaches 00:00:00 and yet the podcast continues to play for another minute. Also, the bookmarking of play progress is hit or miss between the various players.)
At this point, I don’t know what else can be said to make Plex devs believe how much many of us want podcasts to just work. If the answer is PlexAmp, I’m all in as PlexAmp is now my player of choice.
At this point, however they make podcasts finally function without error or annoyance…? I’ll take it.
