After upgrading to the latest Server on Feb 13th I’ve run into transcoding issues with a large portion of my library. First movie we noticed was running perfect before we stopped half way(before the update) and tried to finish it the next day. No change to any other settings.
Running on Windows 11(all latest updates). Latest Plex server (64bit) installed as well.
Previously playable HEVC 10 content and H265 content that my setup transcoded without hiccups is now blocky, distorted and flickering in the images. Additionally most content will do the same if I enable Subtitles on Roku devices where I have to set burn subtitles to always. The movie(H264 format that direct plays without subtitles) we had started on the 13th ran smooth with burn subtitles set to always. After the update it transcodes and does so very poorly.
When playing movies on an iOS device from the server. H264 content with or without subtitles will direct play without issues. H265 and HEVC 10 will
Sometimes be able to direct stream and will play fine unless I enable subtitles.
Note that all of the content and hardware hasn’t changed. Only the server software update on Feb 13th. I have reinstalled the server software with no change.
Has anyone else experienced this or similar issues after the update? Also if more info about my setup is needed let me know.
Attached pictures show the picture degrade on iOS when enabling subtitles on a H265/HEVC 10 that can direct stream, enabling subtitles forces the video to transcode to H264.
