Beta PMS 1.24 Transcodes Everything on Roku

I recently installed 1.24.0.4897-411e7667f and upon trying to play something on my Roku I noticed subtitles were burned in.

I then tried different files, h.264, h.265, MPEG2, everything transcodes with burned in subtitles and there’s no way to stop it.
I tried the Windows app and the issue does not occur, haven’t tried anything else.

I rolled back to the latest public version and everything works fine, so I’m assuming this is server related.

Not happening on my Roku with same server version.

Strange. Must be something on my end then, even though the rollback fixed it. I just don’t know what.

First thing to do is during playback on Roku bring up the on screen controller and select playback settings on the far right. ( the three dots) On the Playback settings screen select Playback Info then make the top Playback: Trancode option focused. While it is focus on the bottom it should say why it is transcoding.

Thanks, I’ll make sure to look at that if the issue appears again. At the moment I don’t want to update one more time to avoid any potential issues.

Let me know if you need the info anyway to avoid issues in the next releases, I’ll make sure to test it.

Thanks for the report and sorry for the troubles. We did locate the issue and it should be fixed in the next PMS update.

Oh, ok, so it was a server issue after all. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for fixing it before release!
