So far I dont even keep my PH plugged in, pandora for it sucks, and plex just is not that great on it.
Thats a shame.
I'm hoping to avoid colour space (RGB/YCbCr) conversions between the XBMC code and a 'Computer' in PHT.

I installed the Plex app on my A-200 and will soon on my C-200. I think it's good, much better than NMJ2 (for movies that is, I don't use it for Music). The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to get BR/DVD ISO files to play. From what I've read on NMT forum they play but I haven't been able too.
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
I am surprised that you like it, the recent releases for me have been even worse and the performance has become worse on top of it.
Reading your experiences with baited breath Monsieur. Keep your feedback coming.
I'm very tempted if the interface gets improved.

The Plex app on the A400 is one of the best clients around. I have used Plex on almost every platform and unless you are talking PC/Mac the A400 Plex is right up there with any other, including Plex n the Sony GTV v2 box. In my case, it is my other media players that are gathering dust. Between Versight+Everson an Plex I would put the A400 at the top of the media players I am familiar with. That being said Plex is not known for robust channel support so you would not use it for Hulu, Amazon, netflix and so on... The other issue that seems to be important for audiophiles has to do with higher level audio code support That seems to be a tricky one with most media players. Many people want HD audio support from devices that aren't licensed to use that. The audio issue seems to be something that keeps cropping up. Since it's not a priority for me one should take my statements on media players with that in mind. Otherwise I am really happy with the A400. Great player, excellent Plex, lover Oversight but still don't are for NMJ.

I've got to agree, even though i've never seen or used it :) .
One issue i'm hoping to avoid with Mac/PC is the issue (albeit small) with colour space. This is very confusing and i've read so much about whats right/wrong so don't quote me on the following but essentially XBMC (and PHT) output in the 0-255 colour space (like a PC), even if overridden by the operating system (you end up with a conversion). This in itself should be fine because you simply set your TV to the same range however if (like me) you output through an AV Receiver you can't manually set your TV to 0-255 because it knocks out all other sources.
The PCH can output at either 0-255 or 16-235 which should avoid (in my case) black and white clipping.
I see this client to be as fully featured as a PC/Mac but without the drawbacks that HTPCs can have. As i've said before, i'm watching this thread.
I really like the Plex Server especially with my PopcornHour. The only problem I have is with ISO files.
So could someone please confirm whether BR/DVD ISO files should play when using the PCH.
When I try to play a BR ISO it just states "Couldn't Play File", when I play a DVD ISO file the DVD Menu comes up on the screen but there is no way to select Play, Scene Selection, etc.
If I can get these ISO files to play I won't bother with any other Media Server including the NMJukebox.
Hi,
Try to enable smb-path setting.

I have that enabled in the PMS settings but I don't think the PCH is playing through SMB. When I play a file and press info, the title of the movie is displayed as file.mkv and not the actual name.
I've been investigating that to see it that is the problem. I'm currently out of town and will be home probably tomorrow and I can work on it some more.
Thanks for the suggestion. Any suggestions are welcome.
I have a A300 Popcorn Hour and the Plex app loaded. This interface is a little different than the web or other standard Plex gui's. When I go to Sign into MyPlex, it just has be go login and use a code to connect to my account. However, none of my Shared content shows up. For example on my PMC on my Win8 machine, I log into MyPlex and on the left hand side where the menu is, a new item shows up as Shared Content and I can then see that shared lib. On the PCH client, I do not see the shared lib and I do not see how to add it.
Why is the login different for this client, using a code and such??
My dad has a popcorn hour A-200 is there a way he can connect his popcorn to my plex server.
Hi
I have just installed the plex app on my old popbox 3D and it works fine. The interface is a little slow but still quicker that YAMJ if it could cache the metadata on the PB sd card it would be a lot quicker.
I bought a roku 3 to replace the popbox, expecting great things, the roku is quicker but the interface is crap. Which client would you suggest that has a similar interface to the popbox/plex combined with the speed of the roku. Is there anything on the market. Hows the Sony Google TV thing in comparison.
Cheers

I think this is the same problem im having , i can see all my own content from my server/library no problem and i have to say i really like the UI , but i share servers with another user and dont see how i can access this media through my c-200 .
Also ive just noticed that when accessing ples on mobile devices , ipads etc only the shared content is showing up ,and my own content is missing .
I want to add in a new update for my review on the A400.
So with the newer versions of Plex for the PH there is a feature called support for Samba, what it does is basically remap everything you play in plex to a samba share, so you are not using HLS which is not super stable on the PH. It took me a while to get the config.xml working (I didnt want to redo my section mappings with UNC instead of actual paths). Anyway, the gui is still a little slow for my liking but not horrible, the layout is exactly as it is on the windows/mac client so that's a plus. It plays 23.967 correctly, HD Audio (so far only tested TRUEHD) works, and it's quiet. So here's my final statement for this post. If you have a PH it's worth it to use but if you are looking to buy, I still think a NUC or something of the sort for the same money is a better buy.
At thoughts on my issue , I’m completely stumped .

I wasnt sure that myplex worked on PH for external servers, it was just there for local lan authentication. I could be wrong.
I never could get it to show the shared content using the pch plex client. I had to switch to my Win8 HTPC and just run the Windows Plex client, works great. My stuff plus the Shared Content.
The pch plex client is just not there yet. :(
After reading this thread, I've decided to give the PLEX client another go on the Popcorn Hour C200.
Wow!
I downloaded and dismissed PLEX on the Popcorn Hour due to version 0.03 but just installed 1.03 and I am impressed. The link between the C200's native player combined with the PLEX media server interface (linked over smb) is absolutely fantastic. I've used PLEX on the Samsung TV upstairs (which I've enjoyed but wanted a larger title interface) and used the Popcorn Hour file menu downstairs because it is the only media player I've come across to play a wide range of video files and audio codecs without any artefacts. I have the C200 piped into a Sony Home Theatre surround sound system. I've been using Popcorn Hours since the A100 and they take a bit of configuring to get right, especially if you want smooth streaming. When you have them configured correctly, they are rock solid stable.
I'm so glad I gave this another go.
For anyone finding drop outs, it's worth noting I had this problem before PLEX and solved this via upgrading my powerline HD plugs from 200 to 500. I'm using the Devolos and can't remember the last time I had a drop out with 1080p and surround sound.
I recently bought a wifi Roku 2 and have not been happy due to the gaps in between the transcoding. The Popcorn Hour has an excellent video chip so I play directly on the fly in top quality. Excellent for 3D too.
Hey
I'm trying since weeks to get the Popcorn Hour A-400 running with my PMS.
I use VPN Connections between two Networks with about 30Mbit/s of Bandwidth.
I want to play transcoded Media with 720p and max 6Mbit of bandwidth. I tried a lot of stuff with the profile XML for Popcorn Hour to get this running, but without success.
My current XML Looks like attached. But it is not working. In the PMS Log i see that the Popcorn Hour is connecting, and the Cover Thumbnails are getting transcoded. but the Movie itself not. Also i dont see a client name, like when i connect with Google Chrome. It looks like it is not using the Profile Settings to access the file...
is anybody out there who could help me?
regards
i reactivated my c200 box and installed the plex client.
now i have a problem playing 720p content. plex plays it with a black border around it.
is there a way to configure it to resize the image?
Hi all,
Earlier in this thread mc_edit advised that he was running plex on a pch A110, can anyone advise if they have managed to get plex on an a110 and how, I have it running on an a300 fine although at the moment I tend to just fling content to the a300 from an ipad and there are still lots of bits I need to test yet but so far all looks fine. I would be happy to just fling to the a110 which is in the kitchen from the ipad etc if that is a possibility, but at the moment I cant work out how I would have two pch units listed in the plexnmthelper config that I am having to run on the server to get the a300 to show up as an available output device.
Thanks in advance for any response.
