Hi,
i'd like to request that the TV-Show Agents populate the Cast information on TV-Show and Episode level.
Both the data structure used to store the information internally in the DB and the data (at least checked with TVDB) are there. It is simply the Agent that is not importing that information in the first place.
All in all two (i hope pretty small) changes to retrieve and display the data like its done for Movies just for TV-Shows.

I'm surprised that this hasn't gained much attention. I really miss the cast info for TV Shows that XBMC has. Please add cast info for TV Shows too.
Still no cast for tv Shows. This is just 2 years from the initial feature request. I really wonder why cast information has been implemented for movies but not for shows. All data structures and data are there
You can get the cast info if you use the monitoring tool PlexPy. The PlexPy developers found a way to display the cast info so we know it’s possible…
Personally, cast information is more important to me than directors and writers. Can’t remember the last time I thought “Hmm… I wonder what other shows has that guy written?”
Lack of this feature hampered Plex’s usefulness today.
The lack of this feature has really hindered Plex for me. Emby has implemented this feature through a use of both TVDB and theMovieDb. I’ve been a longtime user of Plex, but have looked at moving to Emby just for this feature alone as it is so important. It is very nice to click on an actor and see all items in my library they perform in - movies, TV shows and even guest appearances in TV shows.
I agree with the previous posters; this is an incredibly useful feature that’s lacking. I use Media Center Master to pull the XML, posters, etc and MCM’s agent and scanner. Just easier to control things if a series/movie detection goes pear-shaped. MCM pulls actor information at the series level and guest star information at the episode level, all nice and tidy. As Udo said, everything’s in place already.
I understand from another post that some re-coding would have to be done for the clients, and that that’s a non-trivial effort. It would be great though if this were undertaken, even if the results are constrained on the client (more than 3 or 4 actors behind a More dropdown to conserve screen real estate). Thanks much!
Still hoping for this feature and am surprised it hasn’t gained much attention considering how useful it is in the movie section. The ability to see an actor’s performances listed from both movies and tv would make Plex a much more complete platform.
I would very much like this feature. Only 31 likes on this feature request. Hope there is any chance.

Clearly, your tv show metadata must come from a non-default agent. This is available since quite a few months now.
That is series data, i mean episode data does not show cast members, the picture above is episode data from emby and below is plex
The only thing plex adds is Directed by and Written by

Plex fetches tv show metadata from TheTVDB. And they don’t provide ‘per episode’ cast information.

But this is relatively new and may not be supported by their API.
As of this writing, the particular episode from your screen shot above has no guest stars listed on TheTVDB.
The same on TheMovieDatabase.
Pretty sure the TMDB uses series regulars as episode cast when none is provided, well at least they do for me. Even if that episode had both cast and guest on both TVDB and TMDB plex still wouldn’t add it to the episode
EDIT. I done a quick test adding just one season of the xfiles and checking that episodes had guest stars on both TMDB and TVDB, using TheTVDB agent and The Movie Database agent and neither of them add the cast/guest actors to the episode page
I would like to see guest actors listed per episode of any tv shows… (useful for talk show like Stephen Colbert). and Ideal for search, for example I want to search for Sylvester Stallone without specifying either Tv or movie so it will list all movies and tv shows he appeared in then I can find specific episode he was in. I know IMDB has that features so do TMDB.
If Plex don’t want to do that then at least give me a way to add guest cast members per episode like you can do with Directors or Writers per episodes.

Granted the time that code was updated was 2 years ago, what are the chance we’ll see cast at an episode level this year?
I have a LOT of current and older shows with changing cast lists that could really use per-episode cast information:
Variety Shows - The Muppet Show, Saturday Night Live, Carol Burnett
Game Shows - The Match Game, Hollywood Game Night
Anthology Shows - The Twilight Zone, Tales From The Darkside
Talk Shows - Seth Meyers, Colbert
Sit-Coms - The Simpsons, The Love Boat
But mostly in my case, I collect a lot of old music shows, such as Solid Gold, Top Of The Pops, and Musikladen, and a cast list for each episode would be a killer feature. I’d like to search for BAND NAME and have Plex show me all the movies and TV shows they’ve been on. It’s easy for SNL, but there’s too many artists on Top Of The Pops to list them all in the title.
I would like to also add my name to the list of people wishing Plex would add cast lists at the episode level. Five and 1/2 years after the initial feature request, and still hasn’t been implemented. Like tikilab, I also have a lot of shows with changing cast lists, including The Muppet Show and Twilight Zone, and I would really like to be able to see guest stars (Hell, in The Twilight Zone, EVERY actor aside from Rod Serling is a “guest star”.)
Hopefully this feature can be added soon…
How is this not already a thing? There are so many types of shows with a rotating cast.
