Port Triggering "instead" of Port Forwarding

Is it possible to get the plex remote server working with port triggering instead of port forwarding ?

Port triggering is more secure as the port is only opened when needed.

With standard port forwarding, the port is left open 24/7 ( leaving the network vulnerable to a port scan attack etc… ) whether anyone is accessing my plex server or not.

Thanks

With port triggering, the port is opened by the server machine. If you machine is idle and no traffic is going out, then the port won’t be open and you couldn’t remote access back in.

Ah ok i didn’t realise it worked like that.
Seems a funny way of doing things, im sure there are reasons though.
I do wonder if there is any other way to make things a little more secure though.
Any ideas ?

Plex already has the option to requires a secured SSL connection. This would prevent outside attempts to connect to your server except through an authorized Plex client. Sure, someone could still scan your network and find the open port, but since PMS is the only thing listening, it won’t respond.
