Please, PLEASE could Plex do something about Samsung’s choice to use the ‘Orientation: 90’ Meta tag for portrait mode recording in their video/photo recordings. Plex seems to ignore this and when playing on my Samsung TV (and a few other tested units) it results in videos and photos being insanely stretched and un-viewable. The reason I use plex, and I am sure many others do too, is for viewing my content in a seamless way on my TV.
I don’t think its a valuable “solution” to run all my stuff through Handbrake (which does fix it…) or have complex CRON jobs running on my media server to tidy up the synced content. I feel Plex should perhaps handle these edge cases for the benefit of its customers. I really want to buy Plex Pass again as I loved the auto sync service, but again, the videos and photos recorded in portrait mode and unviewable on my devices until I re-encode them.
I know its not the TVs fault as if I access the content via DLNA it works fine.
