Possibly bug in 0.9.16.0 Media Server

After upgrading my server last night, I can’t create a secure connection. It was working fine before, and it still works if I disable secure connections on my local network. This is true on both other systems and the localhost. I’ve also disabled the firewall on the host with no effect (although ports 80, 443 and 32400 were already opened for Plex)

The console didn’t give much, but it can’t access the following (which is the correct IP for the server).
[Error] Failed to load resource: A server with the specified hostname could not be found. (192-168-1-100.##hash-here##.plex.direct, line 0)

Plex server 0.9.16.0
OS X 10.11.3

Need to do some troubleshooting

Can you do nslookup on the url
nslookup 192-168-1-100.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.plex.direct
and repeat that using google dns
nslookup 192-168-1-100.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.plex.direct 8.8.8.8
and see what you get
It should translate to 192.168.1.100 in both cases. If it only does it for google dns lookup, it means there is DNS Rebinding Protection in your router

If neither nslookups succeed, then connect to the server directly through http://localhost:32400/web and set the secure connections to preferred and then in settings / server / general, sign the server out and in

This will generate new certificate and new hash string

Then go to https://plex.tv
Sign out
Sign in
and go to this url
https://plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=1
and note down the the plex.direct URI strings
and repeat the nslookups on them
To test with client apps, sign the plex apps out and in again to ensure new server details obtained from plex.tv

There is a section here about DNS Rebinding https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/206225077-How-to-Use-Secure-Server-Connections

Having the same problem so I’m following along. Did the nslookup. all good. went to sign out and then “Claim” the server… AHH, it won’t take my credentials!

Then I refreshed my page and all I see is a “Looking for servers” page. The server is on the same box, so something awful is going on with my network settings.

may need to clear browser cache or sign out and sign in within plex.tv (top right corner)

I found my issue tonight. It was happening so sporadically that I was having a hard time finding the cause. Turns out it was due to the GeoIP blocking I was doing on my IPfire firewall. Doh! I turned that off and server mapping happens without a hitch.

I had this problem too but 0.9.16.1 fixed this issue for me.
