Posters for foreign movies appear in english even though "Prefer artwork based on library language"

Hey,

I’ve just set up a new server all fresh and set up the libraries. The movie library language is english and “Use original titles” is selected and “Prefer artwork based on library language” is unselected. I have a lot of french movies, and even though the titles do appear in the original language, almost all the posters appear in english with the english title.

Am I misunderstand that “Prefer artwork…” option? I thought that’s what it would do. That’d be neat to not have to manually go over every foreign movie’s poster.

Thank you.

See if you have “prefer local metadata” enabled int he properties of the library.
If you do, disable it. Then Refresh Metadata on the affected movies.

To be fair, this option has never ever worked for me (and I reported the issue in the past).
And it should only matter if the localized artwork are embedded in the file metadata (and I believe it mostly works for MP4 files but could be tricky for MKV).

My initial strategy was to have all metadata already embedded in my .mp4 files, but that never worked.

To work around the issue @Cor1001001101 I eventually decided to split my libraries between languages: a folder for French, and another one for English. This way I can set the language differently for each folder and not have to worry about the metadata being switched to English for French movies.
