Issue:
Since the last couple of weeks I’ve started getting localized posters.
-
Metadata language: Swedish
-
Prefer artwork based on library language: Disabled
-
Use original titles: Enabled
Previously, I always got English posters. Now, newly added titles often get localized Swedish posters that are worse in quality and cluttered with text.
This also causes inconsistency in the library: posters are in one language while titles are in another.
Expected behavior:
Artwork should follow the previous behavior (English/Original posters regardless of metadata language settings).
Please fix this bug or revert to how it worked before.
Improvement suggestion:
If I could make a suggestion to improve this even more.
It would be very useful if Plex allowed more granular metadata language preferences. Many bilingual users are comfortable in their own language and English, and often watch content in both.
For me with Swedish and English I would prefer something like this:
“Advanced metadata language preferences”
-
Descriptions: [Swedish] - would always prefer this regardless of content origin.
-
Titles: [Original language if English or Swedish, otherwise fallback to English] - this would make sure English content is displayed in English and Swedish content is displayed in Swedish. All other content is displayed in English as a fallback.
-
Artwork: [English unless original language is Swedish] - this would make sure all artwork respects the same consistency as title preferences.
