Posters not fetched for select movies

So the problem is that for a few movies posters are not fetched. I’m trying to figure out how to fix this. I reinstalled Linux Mint from scratch and installed Plex Media Server via Snap. Created a new “TestMovies” library and set it to look in a folder with only two files and using the Plex Movie agent. I have enabled CineMaterial under the Plex Movie agent in the settings. Files are named as follows.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018).mkv
All About Us (2007).m4v

Fantastic Beasts displays correctly, but All About Us simply has a screenshot from the movie. I do notice that The Movie DB does not have a poster for All About Us. However, IMDB and CineMaterial both do. Yet nothing show up for the poster, even if I try to manually edit. It does show the IMDB rating and description.

The other item to note is that for another test, I temporarily setup a PMS on an iMac and the poster is fetched and appears correctly. I can attach logs, but what log is needed? The entire .zip file? Help would be appreciated as a clean install was my last hope.

yes, Full log zip helps because I can freely jump into and look at any of the agent logs.

Not sure yet but looks like a problem with bringing securing the match at 94% which should be more than enough.

I have seen it mentioned that Freebase was something that is now dead. I haven’t added it in anyway that I know of.

I see you have Local Media Assets on top. This is ill advised.

Place it at the bottom. Being at the bottom allows it to pick up the extras which other agents don’t get. At the top will preempt proper matching.

LMA is a supplemental agent. It’s not a primary agent.

I don’t think I changed it from the default, but I could have. I moved LMA to the bottom and refreshed metadata. No change. :frowning_face:

It’s not that easy.

The media is already mis-matched.

You essentially have to tear it down and start again.

The ability to unmatch & rematch doesn’t exist

Do you mean the Plex Dance? I was in that process when you replied and it too resulted in no change. Do you mean something more?

As a test. . do it this way.

  1. Create a new “Test Movie” section.
  2. There are specific changes when making this under Advanced and while creating it. (we are going to create a pure , clean, isolated section)
    a. Don’t use anything from other sections
    b. turn off collections
    c. Turn off thumbnails.
  3. Add your smallest directory tree to it (smallest group)
  4. Now launch that to build. Don’t disturb it with other activities while it’s building. This will serve as our “control”.

I made a new directory with three properly matching movies. Should I put a copy of All About Us in it before adding the library to plex?

edit: Went with 2a and left All About Us out of the directory. The three movies show as expected.

So the fresh match did exactly as expected. It is a new media item and matched using the now-current agent settings.

Well that makes me feel better in some ways anyway. Hopefully you can figure something out. Just FYI, I was in the process of trying another machine and it also has the same behavior. Also, the local media assets are first by default in the Plex Movie Agent.

Just to followup, I was never able to get the posters to fetch using Plex. However, I bypassed the issue by installing Tiny Media Manager. Used that to download and store the posters locally. Bonus - now my files are easier to name!
