So in these folders that are holding loose files, how is versioning handled? Can you provide an example of a versioned title?
This seems a bit different than what was reported here Stop. Changing. My. Posters - #206 by dokuro. I was able to confirm the issue reported there and it seems to stim from the Server Library settings: scan automatically, run partial scan when changes detected. The simple takeaway IIRC is that PMS was scanning in the change and generating a new ratingKey, which basically treats this as a new entry. Because it’s “new” none of the locked metadata would apply.
For the titles that were affected, could you look in their XML again and compare their ratingKey to maybe a title that was recently added and one that was added around the same time. If we can determine that the ratingKey DID change then it would fit into the same issue as the linked thread. If not… well… I’ll see if I can setup a similar environment and attempt to reproduce.
I would like to suggest that you disable the partial scan setting and see if how much impact that causes to your normal day-to-day flow.
