I recently became a Plex Pass user and been very happy with some of the features. I was however, disappointed that you could not convert your music library to a Preimum. So I created a library via Preimum and now I have several albums that did not get cover art when they did in my standard music library. Also I have several hundred duplicates of albums in my database.
WTF, now I have to go thur and moves the files delete the entries and move the source files back and hope Plex does not duplicate them again.
Any suggestions or is Plex going to spend some time with music and get it right. Seems like all they do is worry about movies and play via the web. I see very few updates about the music library and the metadata for music.
Premium libraries get their artwork and metadata from Gracenote, rather than Last.FM, unless you specified otherwise. Trouble is, Gracenote and Last.FM are both full of garbage, so switching from one to the other just buys you different problems. The point is, it may not be Plex’s fault. If Last.FM gave you better results, you can configure your premium library to use it rather than Gracenote.
In my experience, the best thing to do (although it may require a lot of up-front work from you) is to configure Plex to use embedded metadata straight from your media files, and get your embedded tags into good shape. After I did that, these headaches went away.
Thanks. Looks like I have some up front work to do with the embedded tags.
