Let’s make the play button more useful for collections. Where other streaming services prompt the user to resume where they were in a series, Plex could provide similar behavior.
When the user presses play on a collection, the priority could be:
Resume earliest partially played video if there are partially played videos.
Load earliest unplayed videos if there are any unplayed videos.
Otherwise, load the earliest video in the collection.
“Earliest” employs the current sort preference for that collection, e.g. date, title, etc.
I second this suggestion. With, for example, lots of Looney Tunes cartoons in a Movie Collection, it would be great to have them play back as if they were TV Episodes - that is, automatically proceeding to the next title to be watched, as was suggested by @mcandre. I would further like to see the next item to play in a collection be included in On Deck - similar to the way the next episode of TV Shows are displayed.
