Is Plex going to add the ability to stream remotely using h265 VideoToolbox for transcoding rather than h264?

The only thing I have noticed is some screen tearing and stuttering. When the movie pans, it’s pretty bad. It’s very visible. We’ve noticed it on both TV, both TV4K. Other than that the performance and playback have been really good. Has anyone else noticed the screen tearing?

@wakkedoff is that for video that has been transcoded? Does it change if you (as a test) disable hardware transcoding on the server? I’m curious if it’s a server+transcoding issue, or if it’s a client+playback issue and might deserve a new thread.

Good question, so far it’s happened with direct stream files. I will disable hardware transcoding, playback the same scene and report back my finding.

[image] wakkedoff: it’s happened with direct stream files If it’s happening with Direct Stream, then transcoding isn’t involved, and it’s more likely to be a player-side issue. Make a new thread and share media info.

Is it now better to turn Hardware Transcoding off?
