When will we get the auto download feature to return to Android devices?

Great question! Downloads is an area that we wanted to focus on with the new app experience. What we chose to do was to build from the ground up. This meant working to create a strong, stable, and fast foundation, then building on top of that foundation for all of the rest of the download features that existed previously. I went into a bit more detail here if you are interested.
As for our next steps, we do have more downloads work on our active/in progress project list and it is getting love and attention. I don’t have any timelines to provide today, but this next round of work includes quite a bit of interface cleanup based on feedback from all of you and starting the buildout of downloading additional groups of content (aka things like playlists) and also smart downloads (that would include auto-downloads of things like next episodes).

Short answer is yes, we will bring back more advanced/smart ways of downloading content in our apps. The new app also brought a completely redesigned downloads infrastructure, that we’ve been working hard to make sure it has a solid foundation that we can safely build features on top of.
We are currently in the design phase for some of those next features, which will include things like better organization of downloaded content, easier way to manage it and yes, the ability to for example only download the next X unwatched episodes.
These changes are not going to come all at once, but please know that this feature is near and dear to our hearts and we’re treating it with the love it deserves.
