I’m running on Kubernetes and I was wondering if there are plans to offer options to decouple the database from the app itself in order to support a more modular architecture? it is possible in the near future to also decouple certain CPU heavy tasks like transcoding into separate worker units?

The short and quick answer here is no. We have no plans to do this at this time.
