After verifying your Plex Home is correct, you can now claim the server as yours.
Step 1: Verify Plex account
- Go Here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/
- Click on the user icon in the upper right corner of the browser window
- Make sure the correct username is displayed.
- If not, sign out, then sign in with the correct account.
Step 2: Quit Plex Media Server
- Right click on the Plex Media Server icon in the taskbar.
- Choose Exit.
Step 3: Ensure all Plex tasks are stopped
- Launch Windows Task Manager (Windows key + R, enter
taskmgr, click OK) - Select Processes tab, click on Name column (to sort by name).
- Plex processes are listed in the Background Processes section.
- If any running processes begin with Plex, right click on them and choose End Task.
Step 4: Go here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/devices/pms
- If the server is listed, remove it.
- Remove any other old/outdated server entries.
Step 5: Remove Windows Registry Entries
- Using one of the methods mentioned in my first post, remove the registry entries.
- Do this even though you did it earlier.
Step 6: Reboot the PC.
Step 7: Reclaim Plex Media Server
- Launch Plex Media Server manually if needed.
- See How Do I Claim My Server and What if the “Open Plex” button doesn’t claim the server or I can’t get to the UI to click it?
