PS3 Audio offset to right in Movies

When I play 5.1 in any format, voice that should be coming from the center channel is coming from the right channel. TV shows in 5.1 are fine. I’ve reinstalled both the Plex Media Server and the PS3 App.

What type of audio is in the files? the player does not really care if it is a movie or a tv show.

can you post the media xml for a file that works and one that doesn’t https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201998867-Investigate-Media-Information-and-Formats

mkv, avi, mp4 it doesn’t matter, so are the files in TV Shows. It doesn’t matter if they are DD 5.1 or DTS 5.1. TV Shows are fine correct audio channels Movies are shifted from the center channel to the right channel. Disc, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc are fine too. I’ve tried many, many movies and all are the same.

This is one that works:

Had to use MediaInfo and post that data, XML text show as blank space.

I also created a new movies folder, copied a few movies there and got the same results. I’ve tested with around 20 movies and several TV shows, same results every time. It started about 2 weeks ago.

Update, XBox One works fine. I reset the PS3 to default, still the same. Movie, voice comes from right channel, TV Shows voice comes from center channel

I have the same problem with my Ps3 Client - Center chanel is at the right front speaker. The same movie with chrome cast works fine. Both is steering with my Samsung s6. Iv installed the newest version of plex Client on my Ps3.

Please help me

This problem has gone on for too long. Its been over a year since deploying Plex. Had give up any hope on Plex addressing this problem and went back to PS3 Media Server. Also now experimenting with VLC as a host on my server. Plex’s failure to repair this and the A/V sync problem. I refuse to nurse the audio offset time while viewing, especially since the time changes if you pause or seek.

My question to Plex is; is this a Plex problem or a PS3 problem? Since I’ve tested XBox One and Chromecast and both work flawlessly I would imagine that this is a Plex coding problem in the PS3 app. The reason I say this is because Netflix and Amazon Prime both work on the PS3 with no problems. Now I eventually plan on building a Home Theater PC, but until I do this I’m stuck with PS3 or Chromecast. I’d prefer to use my PS3 so I can use my Chromecast in another room. In searching Google I’ve seen that this problem has existed for some time and has not been addressed as “We’re working on it” or “We’re no longer going to support the PS3”. Plex, some answers would be appreciated by your customers.

Hallo - Plex Team - Do you know this problem??!!?? Please give us an answer. What do you need to analyse it?

yes they are aware of the issue. they have not figure out a fix yet

Same problem here, unless I enable AC3 passthrough in the plex app- so if you have an AC3 decoder, please select this. Plays back perfectly after that.

no - this wasn’ t the solution for my system! sorry.

Not the answer for me either. Everything is shifted right one channel no matter what.

This happens to me earlier - tried playing the latest episode of The 100 via the PS3. I think it started off with the sound normal coming from centre but then dialogue was coming from the right for some reason. I couldn’t see anything in the settings, but my AV receiver was showing Multi In. I swapped it to the PS4 and everything worked fine, also with the receiver showing Dolby Digital plus Surround. Any ideas?

I have exactly the same issue as above - all audio has shifted to the right audio channel. Started when I upgraded to this latest version. Plex was fine before this. What broke?

…forgot to add that these files seem to play fine through the browser (Firefox and Safari) just fine - although in stereo.

I have the same problem on my PS3: Dialog comes from the front right speaker when watching content with the Plex client app. Watching the same content via DLNA served from the same Plex server works. The problem only occurs when using the PS3 Plex client app.

The Plex client app has an audio setting that reads something like “Use AC3” (not sure of the exact wording); whether this checkbox is enabled or not makes no difference on my system. The PS3 audio settings are set to allow DTS and Dolby Digital, and every other manner of watching media (Netflix, Hulu, DLNA, etc.) work fine.

My audio setup: PS3 connected to surround receiver with optical digital.

If any developers are reading this thread, I’m happy to provide any logs or do any tests the help!

Hallo Plex TEAM - do you sleep?
Do you support only PS 4 now?
Whats going on here – so many people have a PS 3 and pay for the PLEX PASS !!
–> is it so difficult to map the sound correctly and bring a new SW out??
