If we are going to see support for FLAC transcoding from server to client on PS4?
In line with how you right now transcode to AAC or DD. Transcoding everything into FLAC would solve all my issuses, and make DD, DTS, DTS-MA and True-HD available. I don’t care about the small light being on, on my reciever. As long as it’s loss-less, I’m a happy camper.
The audio solution for the PS4 is lack-luster at the moment. Personally I’m thinking about using another device that has better sound format compatibility (DD, DTS, HD-formats). But if we could get multichannel FLAC (= LPCM) on the PS4, that would basically solve all audio issues.
Would love to see support of just FLAC in general on the PS4. I was disappointed today to see the files I’m playing on my PS4 now still being transcoded.
I switched back on the plex DLNA server and have been using the ps4 media player app to play flac files. It’s not as slick as first-class plex support, but my ps4 is playing flac files at least!
Unfortunately, we don’t have access to the same video player as the DLNA player. What the DLNA player can or can’t play is no indication of what Plex should be able to play.
We are continuously asking Sony to broaden the codec support, however so far we have seen very little improvement.
You can call me crazy, but since four months ago I can ear FLAC even with the lyrics in my PS4, saddly after this last update of the server October 24 I think, when I try to play any FLAC file, my windows server crash, so… How can explain that? Idon0t know… to me , is a mistery…

Jesus, @kay.one, my post was 15 days ago. I install 3 new server updates in this 15 days. **The new PS4 app update solve the issue, now it works fine again.

Sorry about my post here dude, but the problem was the Plex app in the PS4, not the server side, the server crash because of PS4 app issue.
Many times is not clear from where the issue is comming. My server never crashed before like that.
I found the source of the issue, in this case, was the PS4 app when I tried to played one FLAC file. And the issue not happend with my ATV4 or my Nvidia Shield.
My apologies if was my mistake .
FYI I never had problems before to play flac on PS4.
