Hey Everyone,
I have a few devices at the house that stream from Plex and have been using them for over a year now. I run a local Ubuntu PMS and is setup and working fine. There are 2 PS3, 1 PS4, multiple phones, iPad, Android tablets, chromecasts and the like and they all connect to my local content and friends shared libraries with no problem, except the PS4. This is recent, within the last few days.
While in the PS4 menu I can see the shared server, connect to it and browse the movies he has shared with me. However, when I play any movie, nothing happens and times out. This happens with movies I know I have watched before from his server. I have tried:
- Asking my friend if he changed the encoding, (No)
- Lowering quality.
- Changing to different audio settings.
Haven’t tried:
2. Enabling logging on my server, since I can play locally just fine.
3. Port forwarding or NAT fixes.
4. Sending my friend a movie I know works and ask him to add it to his library for testing.
I can watch his movies perfectly from any other device in the house.
I hope I’m missing something simple and that Sony pushed out an update, or something new happened and the PS4 needs some obscure port opened. I’ve been trying things for a few days now. Again this only happens on the PS4, both PS3 play fine.
