So I see a post from January 2018, where a plex employee said that though nothing can be confirmed, plex was looking into adding support for other popular vr headsets. Here we are now, a year later with PSVR having sold 4.2 million units, can we please get an update on this?
There are no plans for PSVR at this time
If you get the subscription, Littlstar apparently supports UPnP and has VR theaters to watch 2D and 3D content. It should work with a Plex server. Since Plex isn’t interested in supporting PSVR, I’ll check out how well Littlstar works with Plex.
Yes, I’ve seen companies say “no plans at this time” for products they were announcing literally the next day, and Plex has a policy of not announcing anything until it’s ready, but the Plex VR client has been out a long time.
Sorry for the double post, but I gave Littlstar a quick spin last night, and it’s really not there yet. It appears to only support mp4 + aac currently, and looks like it won’t take 3D from blu-ray rips. There’s one movie theater environment with impossibly steep seating, three different screen sizes, and you can switch between a flat and curved screen. All you can see in the theater environment is the seats, so it’s not a lot better than regular cinema mode. It’s still nice to have something though.
