Purchasing a NAS to run plex - where to start and what do I REALLY need

Hello everyone,
For a few years I have kept video and photos on a secondary hard drive on my computer. Needless to say, it struggles to keep up. I am looking for a NAS setup to run plex that would include the following (diskless as I have drives)
https://100001.onl/ https://1921681254.mx/
1)Easily deliver 1080p content simultaneously to 3 devices without issue. My projector is 1080p as is most all of my content. It suits me just fine.

  1. the ability to stream to a remote device smoothly. I travel for work and when sitting in airports and hotels, it would be nice to have smooth playback

  2. the ability to automatically backup photos and videos from our phones and iPads as I’m tired of paying for cloud storage.

  3. the ability to run Usenet/sabnzb/sonarr/couchpotato along with a VPN in the NAS

The key here is that when I’m using plex, I don’t want to worry about if it’s going to lag or buffer. I just want a smooth experience. My budget is around $350 (again, no drives)

Thanks so much for your help and I look forward to hearing from everyone and their experiences!!!

With that budget you will probably not find a perfect solution.

Also the HDD is another issue, with a NAS you should run a different type of HDD, one that is a bit more robust than the typical PC HDD.

A better option would be QNAP TS 453 Be or the Synology equivalent but those are a good deal more expensive.

Trying to meet your budget and HDD requirements I would suggest a QNAP TS251+ or Synology DS218. They meet your budget requirements but I would buy the appropriate HDDs
