I use Plex in a maybe unusual way. I have both players and servers installed on multiple devices and I use Plex both for music and for video. (Im not fond of Plexamp in my setup)
One (1) pc is my main music server and I use a Shield as my video server. (Server in the meaning that the harddrives with most audio and video are connected to those two devices).
A second pc (2) is sitting next to the audio amplifier feeding it over an USB. This way I pull audio from the music server over the network to the audio system.
When I sit down to listen to music I like to be able to control playback from my seating position, and really what I’m looking for is “Plex-solution” to do this.
The way I do it today is to use a laptop (3) with an app called Universal Remote. This enables me to log in to pc 2 and use it’s Plex player.
Sometimes when I have the music on my laptop 3, I need to remote connect to pc 2 and let it pull the music from laptop 3. This is all doable but could be so much simpler if it was possible to remote control directly in Plex and push the music from one Plex to another.
Maybe someone thinks that I should reconsider using Plex in this way but I find so many advantages in it’s library handling that I really don’t want to change.
Additionally I wonder why Plexamp, that has a different library handling, has got playback without break between songs, and not the Plex Player?
It would also be apreciated if there was a way to get a direct music playback without going through the pc audio circutry.
Maybe something of this is possible? If so then I am unaware of it.

What does that mean? The music has to arrive someway in your speakers. Where do you think should the file be decoded and converted to an analog signal?
I use a Devialet amplifier with a USB input, so all handling is done there.

It is working.
I am assuming that the amp is identifiying itself as a “sound interface” when you plug it into a computer. Which means that all you can do with this is to circumvent the DAC that’s built into the computer.
You should be able to pick this sound interface as the default in the system control panel of your operating system. After doing that, any Plex app running on the computer should output directly to the amp.
Some types of Plex apps also allow you to select the sound interface in their settings. Plexamp, Plex for Windows/Mac/Linux, as well as Plex HTPC allow this.
I checked. The amplifier is the selected audio device in the pc. The amplifier is selected in the Plex advanced audio settings. Still the volume does change when it is changed in the pc. I don’t understand what more can be done. Thank you for your help

Again thanks. I thought it would be possible to bypass it and let the audio signal go straight without any additional circuitry.
