putting movies under the metadata type <similar> as related when watching a movie.

i.e:

when viewing related movies to the movie “buried” the current related movies would refer to movies like Arrival, the curious case of Benjamin Button. movies with close to 0 similarity in either actors, plot or overall theme of the movie. some of the sugested related movies are kind of ok I suppose but I’d much rather use the list of movies under the metadata that is provided from tMDB. they even list 20 movies since your library might not contain all of the movies.

so, quite simply. Is there a way for me to set those similar movies as the movies that’s supposed to be shown under the “related” tab, if not: Where is the metadata for what movies to show stored?

thank you

Related Movies hub is based on shared Genre tags mostly but actor and director as well

ok, so how do I change so I can put actually similar movies there?

hover on one of the movie posters click the edit button ( pencil ) and change the genre of it. so the movies you want have the same genre

to be clear you cannot attach some list of movies. the related it dynamically generated and may change as you add more movies with same genres

Soo, what’s the “similar” metadata used for?

sorry i don’t understand your question. You are are putting “similar” in quotes as if i used that word

In the info.xml that contains metadata about the movie there is a html tag that contains a list from 0-19 movies. How is that list used if it isn’t used to generate the related movies for said movie.

Please take a screen of what you are talking about. which movie exactly are you seeing this on

I suppose you can use collections tag to force things together which will replace “related”
