I have a GQ65Q9FN TV with Plex installed and, due to missing DTS support, the server transcodes audio to aac 5.1 for most of my movies (Video is high bitrate 4K HDR)
The issue here is that some movies play perfectly fine, others have buffering every few seconds, others are just stuck buffering forever (literally waited half an hour with nothing happening) and others have glitches where movie would artifact and sound would skip. The actual bitrate of the movies doesnt have any effect on this behaviour.
I am running the latest stable Freenas 11.2 with an AMD Ryzen 2200G, 16gb DDR4 ECC and 6 x 12 TB WD RED in RaidZ.
I thought audio transcoding could be heavier than I thought, but there is basicly no cpu usage while audio transcoding and the server has no problem transcoding to 1080P 20Mbit on my phone. (Cant transcode on tv. Once I select video transcoding on tv the movie just turns black and nothing is happening anymore, also nothing happening on plex dashboard)
I know I could work around this by buying nvidias shield tv or adding aac tracks to the movies missing those, but a shield tv would be expensive and inconvinient for me and going through 200 movies just to look for the ones without aac tracks and then adding those seems like quite a chore. (And no, I do not plan to just buy a new tv either)
Also I noticed that when there are buffering issues, the plex web-interface would usually also not react for a few minutes.
