Hi folks,

I have Plex setup to do Live TV and DVR, as well as a couple movie libraries, with my client being AppleTV and my server running on QNAP TS-251+.

I’ve found that some channels will not play live, constantly buffering, while others seem to work fine. My suspicion is that the channels I have trouble with are 1080i, and the ones that work are 720p.

Recorded shows play back with occasional 5 second pauses every few minutes.

All of my movie library streams to the AppleTV with no issue.

After reading many of the other posts about transcoding bottlenecks, I’m wondering if I am hardware limited or if there is a configuration or bug issue.

My QNAP CPU doesn’t seem to be railed, instead it reports operating at about 60%. I do have its hardware transcoding enabled.

Does anyone have this configuration working well?
Would switching to the HDHomeRun Extend resolve these issues?

I’ve had this kind of problem with tv streams coming in as MPEG2 but others no prob.

Ok, I updated my Server to version 1.15.1.710 and that seemed to help a little…

and I see that Apple TV version 1.39 was just released, so I’m excited to give that a try…
