I have started adding my music files to Plex going through each album to make sure all the metadata is correct by using the MP3TAG and MusicBee programs. Is there any reason why “record label” is not carrying over into Plex??? The field is there in Plex but why is it not being populated when scanned?
Also wanted to know if there is a way to get info such as a synopsis, review etc of the album into Plex without having to physically type it in??

edit, hmm, well plex doesn’t necessarily support reading all tags, more likely that field got populated by the previous metadata provider (gracenote).
since plex is in the middle of switching metadata providers, there probably isn’t a good answer other than, yup that sucks.
Yeah, from what I’ve read in other threads, Plex is pretty much limited to reading just the tags below. They have said they’re working on improvements in this area. If you want to add your vote, I recommend voting for this feature request.
As for synopses, reviews, etc., if Plex finds these things on the online services (Last.FM, etc.), it will generally download them, unless you’ve turned off those options. No way currently to import those things from local files.

If the “try an alpha” offer is open to others, I’ll give it a shot, even if I have to set up a new server on another computer. Really missing some of the Premium music features like “Plex Mix” and looking forward to the reworked “parts of the system that automatically grabs all that sweet artwork and other metadata that make your music library awesome.”
Over the last 6 months I’ve spent a lot of time correcting and adding metadata to my music with MusicBrainz Picard and/or MP3Tag. Fortunately, I haven’t had any of the problems reported with adding new music to an existing Premium library, and I have been music daily, even after the “Important Notice” for music was posted. Unless you count the weird album poster bug that wants to show a photo of the artist rather than the album sometimes. Refresh metadata fixes that instantly.
