I just set up a Raspberry Pi 2 with RasPlex and an MCE remote receiver plugged into it and I'm using a great little MCE remote (like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161103232097)to control the system. I have an Onkyo receiver and a Vizio TV hooked up to it. Both of those support HDMI-CEC and it generally works OK (e.g. volume controls on the remote control the volume of the receiver).
But this is the first time I've ever used the CEC stuff at all and I'm confused about what is and isn't possible to control and how to tie it into the RasPlex remote control support. In particular, I'd like to somehow program the Power button my the remote control to turn off (just) the TV. In my old set up (Windows PC) I used the IR blaster built into the IR receiver to turn off the TV. Seems like CEC would allow me to skip the IR blaster (which doesn't appear to be supported by RasPlex).
I've figured out how to configure the power button on the remote (by default it turns off the Raspberry Pi which I didn't want so it's currently just a noop) but how do I connect that button to somehow send a CEC command to turn off the TV? Is it even possible to turn off just the TV using CEC (if I hit the power button on the TV's remote both the TV and receiver turn off which I'd rather not do). If that's not possible is there some way to enable the IR blaster to do it?
Thanks for any help and suggestions!
