I was just wondering .. the control menu that pops up when you press 'S' .. are the options there defined by the program or are they defined by the skin
i ask .. cause somethings in there don't work with plex .. they are more designed for the old school xbmc for xbox (i'm specifically talking about Restart XBMC)
also, it would be nice to maybe change/add some other options .. i think a sleep system would be a good addition to that menu for example
The restart XBMC in the shutdown menu is actually Sleep System (i.e the item on the far right). I've noticed (since it was implemented) that some releases it's said "Sleep System" and others its said "Restart XBMC", but it's been Sleep the whole time... I guess something going on in the merge across from XBMC code.
That said I agree it can probably do with a revamp, the icons updated etc.
umm … if “Restart XBMC” is suppose to sleep the system … then just like the auto Sleep System after 120 minutes of inactivity i have set in settings … it don’t work still (no version of plex has been able to but my macbook pro to sleep … monitor or system)
Are you always using the shipped version of the skin? The Team Razorfish releases of MediaStream will still have the strings set to "Restart XBMC", but the patched version we ship with includes the changes.
Are you running any other apps in the background which could be preventing the computer from going in to sleep mode?
It is completely possible I saw the Restart string on a seperate installed MediaStream version. I did install a version seperate at one stage to see how some of the features worked. Its definitely fine in the latest package.
The sleep system functionality basically calls Cocoa sleep, which basically tells Leopard to go to sleep. Strange it isn't working with a MBP. Is there some system setting to prevent the laptop from going sleep? Does it work from the apple icon on menu bar?
strange … it went to sleep this time … question … would the screen saver possibly be interfering with it going to sleep ?? cause i turned that off while i was setting the timer to 5 minutes … for screensaver i use Slideshow if that makes a diff
edit:
okay … just spent the last 30 minutes or so testing it and here’s what i found
-sleep mode does turn on after idle … BUT only with screensaver (checked slideshow and dim) turned off
…with the screensaver turned on system didn’t enter sleep … with it off it did
…while having a video paused system didn’t enter sleep … exiting the video … delay would sleep the system
-trying to turn sleep mode on from ‘s’ menu by selecting “Restart XBMC” in Horizon skin doesn’t work … but that’s prolly the skin
