I cannot see a pattern, but periodically there are titles missing from my Collections. The movies are not deleted and can be added back in, but the connection to a collection is broken.
Are they smart collections or manually created? If smart what filters did you use?
No Smart Collections were used. Only manually created, then ordered.
Were the movies in question possibly rescanned in. Did any other manually added tags/labels/etc go missing?
Not sure what you mean by “re-scanned in.” I use Collections as follows: each series of related movies I’ve created a Collection, e.g. Marvel – for all MCU movies I have I manually add them, then rearranged them in to timeline order (vs release order). Later (some random time), I accessed the MCU Collection and it only has 19 movies vs the 25 I have. This has occurred in other Collections, e.g. Cars, Batman, etc. All Collections I have were manually created.
WRT manually added tags/labels/etc. Hum… My process is as follows: copy a new movie to the directory tree for movies, force a library rescan by selecting “Scan Library Files” for the immediate recognition and availability of a new title. Scan Library Files always finds the new title, and 99+% of the time accurately matches and retrieves the movie’s metadata (there has been a small handful of mismatches over time - in these cases I would manually fix them to get a correct match). Otherwise, I do not manually add tags/labels/etc, so as far as I know they are not going missing.
I wish I had more clarity for you about how/when things disappear. Hard to track a bug without the details 
This bug is fixed in PMS 1.40.0, but if you created collections this way in a prior version, then the collection field was not locked.
Looks like 1.40.0 was deployed 12/2023. If I’m reading that right, MOST of my Collection were way before then (as in year+).
I will go through them to “lock” them in, then see what happens. Make sense?
