Raspberry - Not authorized! You do not have access to this server

Server Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.25.2.5319-c43dc0277
Player Version#:

I configured and installed plex exactly as told in this link:

The following file - doesn’t exist after the installation:

nano /etc/default/plexmediaserver

If I want to access the server, I get an window that I can’t! I’m using a fresh installed PI with only Plex running.

Thank you for your help!

I honestly don’t know if the error and the missing file are related. But one step at a time. Regarding the missing file:

My raspberry pi doesn’t have that file either. I think whoever made those instructions was trying to be helpful, but didn’t keep them up to date with the current release.

You shouldn’t need to change the user from ‘plex’ to ‘pi’. So don’t bother with the step you’re stuck on. Go to the “Prepare the Mount Point” portion of the instructions and run the commands again, but where they say ‘pi’, change it to ‘plex’. That should at least get you to where Plex can access your media.

Not to say you won’t run into further issues, but it should get you one step closer.

One further note: I see that throughout those instructions it uses ‘pi’ in various commands. In each case you’ll need to use ‘plex’ instead.

You may want to go over every step carefully, just to make sure that no ‘pi’ snuck by.

Hi,

the problem is, that when I fresh install plex server and login with my plex account, the Website automaticaly goes to “home” instead to “Server” setup, so I can’t configure my rapsberry pi as a server, it just doesn’t work.

Do you have any idea how to do that?

Thank you!

First you specifically have to give the user ‘plex’ read, write, and execute permissions and the folder containing your media.

Once that is done, if the webpage goes to “home” instead of the set up screen, click the wrench icon on the top right of the page.

Then click the “libraries” menu item on the bottom left. There it will let you add different libraries of media.

Hi,

I had to delete the preferences.xml to be able to configure the Plex Server on Raspberry.

Thank you for your help!
